Defined Benefit Pension Certificates

A complying pension certificate available from HAS for $325 (inc GST)

A defined benefit pension (often called a complying pension) is a pension where payments are made at least annually. The size of payments is fixed, subject only to specific variation.

Certificates for complying pensions are required every year for the purposes of Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 Section 295-390 and Superannuation Industry Supervision Regulations 9.31(1)(ba). The latter requires a statement of the actuary’s opinion as to whether, at the valuation date, there is a high degree of probability that the fund will be able to pay the defined benefit pension as required under the fund’s governing rules.
